Weight loss

Hope you’re feeling good today. I want to chat about something we all think about but can get a bit muddled over: weight loss!

Water Weight vs. Muscle Mass: What’s Going On?

So, you’ve kicked off a new diet, and the scales are going down—brilliant! But hold on, is that really fat loss? Usually, the first drop is mostly water! 🚰 While it’s great to see those numbers fall, remember that losing muscle on restrictive diets can be a sneaky problem. Muscle is our mate; it keeps our metabolism buzzing and our bodies feeling strong!

Ladies, Let’s Have a Word About Hormones!

Here’s the lowdown: women and men lose weight differently, thanks to those pesky hormones. With things like our monthly cycle, menopause, and those hormonal shifts, weight loss can feel like a bit of a rollercoaster—definitely not a straight road! 🎢 But don’t worry! It’s all part of the journey. Just keep going, stay consistent, and remember that every little step counts!

Nourish, Don’t Cut Back!

Let’s have a natter about nourishment, because it’s far too easy to slash calories! Instead, let’s fill our plates with a rainbow of tasty, nutrient-rich foods. This not only supports your weight loss but keeps your energy up and your mood bright. Say goodbye to calorie counting and hello to delicious flavours!

A lot of my clients come to me wanting to tone up or drop a dress size, only to find they’ve hit a wall while eating just 1000 calories. Yikes! Here’s the truth: we need to fuel ourselves properly. If you want that toned look, you need to eat MORE!

And don’t forget the power of lifting weights! Strength training is key for building lean muscle, which gives you that sought-after toned look and revs up your metabolism. More muscle means you burn more calories, even when you’re resting! Plus, lifting weights boosts bone density, helps with everyday strength, and can even lift your mood. So grab those weights and get ready to feel empowered!

We need to give our bodies the energy they need to power through workouts and build muscle. Yes, that means embracing carbs and understanding that fat isn’t the enemy.

The sooner we bust the myths around nutrition and women’s bodies, the better off we’ll all be!

Just to put it out there, I personally eat 2000 calories EVERY DAY. I lift weights four times a week and aim for 6-10k steps daily, all while keeping my weight steady (with a few hormonal ups and downs, of course). My diet is packed with wholesome, homemade meals, and no, I don’t spend hours in the kitchen or making separate meals for my family!

So, let’s embrace nourishment, lift those weights, and fuel our bodies for the vibrant, healthy lives we all deserve!

Time for a Bit of Vitamin Love! 💖

As we snuggle up for the season, let’s not forget about those essential vitamins. Here’s a quick rundown of some must-haves for fabulous women like us:

  • Vitamin D: The sunshine vitamin! Perfect for keeping our bones and immune system happy.
  • B Vitamins: Energy boosters that help keep our metabolism buzzing.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Brilliant for our hearts and reducing inflammation—hello, healthy fats!
  • Calcium and Magnesium: Super important for strong bones and muscle function.

Blood Tests: Your Health Check-Up Buddy

And here’s a friendly reminder: regular blood tests are your best mate! 💉 They help us know if we’re missing any vital nutrients. If you’re feeling a bit off or just want to check in on your health, don’t hesitate to have a word with your healthcare provider about getting tested.

Weight Loss: The By-Product of Being Fit and Well

As we go through our health journeys, it’s crucial to remember the importance of patience and consistency. This isn’t a race! 🏃‍♀️ We’re not competing against anyone else; the focus is on becoming fit and well for the long haul.

True wellness is about creating sustainable habits that serve us over time, not chasing quick-fix weight loss. It’s about finding joy in movement, nourishing our bodies, and embracing the process—flaws and all!

Let’s celebrate every small win and recognise that progress isn’t always a straight line. There’ll be ups and downs, and that’s perfectly fine! The goal is to build a lifestyle that feels good and supports our overall health, letting us thrive not just today, but for years to come.

So, let’s commit to being kind to ourselves, stay consistent, and enjoy the journey together!

Final Thoughts

Remember, your health journey is all about you—filled with ups, downs, and everything in between. Be kind to yourself, enjoy the nourishing foods you love, and know that it’s perfectly normal for the scales to wobble a bit. If you ever have questions or just want to share your progress, we’re here for you!
